Some people might be wondering, ‘what is PBIS and how does it have to do for us as students?’.
PBIS stands for, ‘Positive Behavior Intervention and Support’.
Why does the school have PBIS? The school gives to students who display positive actions. This is a way for the school to show appreciation for their good behavior.
PBIS helps influence students to want to do better and take care of their school. It helps teachers be able to give out incentives and show students that they are being seen and that their effort is a big help.
Ms. Goff says “ it’s a way of rewarding students that are being safe, respectful, responsible, and a learner.
This means that giving out PBIS incentives helps the school become better and the learning process better for teachers as well as students.
Krissy, a student at Hazelwood East High, said, “ So many people are getting in trouble this will be a great way to encourage them and to put them in the school spirit.”
The PBIS ticket gives students the opportunity to make their school a better place.
Mrs. Chappelle is the administrator in charge of the PBIS program explained the incentives.¨ Well, it involves with different aspect so form a student’s perspective we have different things going on .” They’re able to choose something out of the PBIS award cabinet downstairs.
What advice can you give to students in order to earn? “It’s to do the right thing and follow the rules.”
How do you pick the students out ? “So we have Spartan Awards that teacher pass out to a student on the ticket , the teacher can circle I watched you be safe , respectful , and responsible. They´ll give it to the students and have to to take it to their office . So they’ll be drawing names on the list on the last day of the week.”
