Hazelwood East High School student, Shekhinah Williams was elected District Vice President for DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) while on a trip to Lake of the Ozarks with the program October 14-15, 2018. DECA is a business oriented organization used to help students advance their marketing skills in the form of competition.
Just like being the vice president of anything else it comes with a lot of responsibility.
“My responsibilities would consist of meeting with all 13 schools and organize ways to fund-raise for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) charity, do community service, and recreational events as well as represent District 7 in all DECA events and competitions,” said Williams.
“DECA allows you to be your best self while enjoying a little friendly competition,” said Williams after being asked to encourage other students to join the program. “Although DECA is all about advancing your marketing skills it can be fun.”
