Seniors hosted a volleyball game with the teachers on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Hazelwood East in the gym to raise money for project graduation. Every year students dream of beating the teachers when they become a senior. Hosting teacher vs student games is a great way to earn money for senior activities and have fun!
They charged 5 dollars for everyone and the game occurred during 4th hour. They played 2 and a half games and, in the end, teachers came out on top with the win over the students.
“We had a game that day so I ended up coaching. I put down my playing skills and put up my coaching skills,” said Hazelwood east senior Jakah Shepard.
The first game was intense. Constant going back and forth with volleying the ball.
Did your team work together well?
“I think so,” responded Mrs. Matthews.
There were some tough calls. Luckily, we had our awesome officials Mrs. Belee and Mr. Payne. Even if the crowd disagreed, they stayed true to the game.
“The first game we kinda worked together, but then it was a lot of adversity with people not getting in. They were so worried about the crowd we weren’t focused,” said student coach Jakah Shepard. The teachers ended up winning the first game with a close game and the second game teachers dominated them!
Why do you think the teachers won?
“Because we’re better, “ said Mrs. Mathews with confidence.
If you could have a rematch do you think there will be a better outcome?
“Yeah, we are going to win and teachers will not score”, said Jakah Shepard.
Both teams had MVPs. For the students, it was Torre Dyson and for the teachers it was everyone.
In the end, the games were a success and they both had fun!
